Answer: In our class discussions, I have studied the corporations role in meeting the needs of the current generations without hampering the ability of the future generation to meet their individual needs. Businesses have the responsibility on actions they that have impacts on both environment and society. Organizations are presently facing new-fangled challenges as they are not only responsible/accountable to shareholders, but also to each stakeholder including employees, local communities, suppliers, policymakers, and the community at large. As we were discussing the CSR topic, I recall asking myself of its importance in the company. I concur that I am lacking knowledge regarding CRS. I first heard of the CSR issue when I was an MBA. Provided the absence of knowledge, I became increasingly interested how CSR operates and how it assists the business to be sustainable. I do not have CSR in my organization, however, examining the instance of other firms, I must think deeply to come up with proposals to my present company since the cases I have observed are somewhat expensive. If I propose something taking into account its benefits in the company, I feel that the owners and management will hesitate because of attached costs (An interview with R.E.Freeman on stakeholder theory). I am admiring the Lamoiyan Corporation advocacies. Besides production of commodities, they are the primary philosophy of the why the business the industry directed to employees, customers, and society for the common good. Hiring workforce with disabilities is not easy, however, what was transpired demonstrates how equity operates. One of the Lamoiyan corporate initiatives was equity in an employment program that began from the Chief Executive Officer down to listening to the corporation employees. I am also admiring how this organizations mission alongside vision statement was presented, Making Our Presence a Blessing to Society. The beliefs of the organization have derived from the above statement that the firm exists both for its individual profit and others from their blessings. For me, this remains true demonstration of generosity. I recall St. Baptist De La Salle each time the real illustration of generosity propped in my mind. Fairness and respect towards all stakeholders were missing in many organizations due to discrimination and segregation. After partaking this course and reading various CSR cases, I have come to realize that alteration that we desired for our nation depends on our own land. Providing all the burdens to the administration is insufficient (Friedman 2). The question that pops into my mind is, as responsible citizens, how can we utilize ourselves for the societal improvement? Several of us are increasingly focused on personal inspirations and motivations enriching ourselves for our love for profit to the extent that everything becomes compromised. We have compromised both stakeholders, and environment and the real business meaning is displayed (TEDTalk ).
